New Trees and Shrubs: Take 2

As promised, here a few photos from the forest department nursery. Wouldn’t you know it…the day before, when I forgot my camera, it was glorious sunny day. The next day, camera in hand, it was the darkest, gloomiest day we’ve had yet this season.

Bougainvillea in December

When I lived in Wisconsin I always said to myself “I want to live someplace where I can grow bougainvillea”.

Well, here I am in Carassai. By most measures, it’s just a bit too cold and windy here in the winter to grow a bougainvillea, but nonetheless we planted one on the south side [...]

Roses

It’s 17:30 and I’ve just come inside from planting roses. Very old varieties of scented roses which I hope will become a hedge.

It gets dark around 17:30 at this time of year. The days have been warm and sunny with the damp air of autumn. Perfect for planting, not too hot, not too cold.

Hans and just came home with quite a few large trees and shrubs to plant.
