Not far from here is a little town in the Sibillini mountains called Montemonaco, a place we like to visit several times a year. The Sibillinis (a protected national park) are part of the Apennine range, the mountains that split Italy into East and West, the “spine” of the country.

For about a half an hour it was if the heavens had painted our world pink, everything, the house, the gravel, the tress, all took on an intense pink tone.
The morning started with people showing up at our house for a walk in the lavender field and an explanation of lavender, how it grows, different types, what it’s used for and so on.
Wow, we have been busy lately.
This Sunday, along with others, mainly our friend Roberto who also grows lavender, we’re organizing a Lavender Festival at our beautiful local castle, the Rocca Montevarmine.
